McDonalds vs Starbucks

Any news related to coffee and Starbucks catches my attention.  It looks like McDonalds is really going to try and take on Starbucks with coffee bars inside their restaurants.  Will this work?  Will McD’s compete?  The articles says the drinks will be about 60 cents cheaper.   It should be interesting to watch…

Here’s the link to the article from Foxnews.

Good! I still don’t like Starbucks coffee. Maybe McDonald’s will have some good coffee. ;-)

To me it seems like you have two very different clientele. Will McDonalds be able to provide an environment that invites people to linger? Seating, lighting, and aroma all seem like tough obsticles for McDonalds. If they targeted the older people it could work but I think this idea is as difficult to pull off as Starbucks putting up a jungle gym for kids.

I agree that environment will be biggest factor. Who really likes to hang out, read a book, or just chill with friends in the McDonald’s environment? But I guess if I have young kids who want to play in the jungle gym, it would be nice be able to get a quality coffee drink to sip while they play…

Which in about two years you will have someone young enough to play in the jungle and you can sit with a cup of coffee.

I don’t like Starbucks either.
