Weekend Recap

30 06 2008

SUNDAY WORSHIP – We had a great Sunday service yesterday.  It was great to have JOSH and the band back from vacation leading us in worship.  The YouTube message about “broadcasting yourself” seem to hit home with a lot of people.  What is your life broadcasting? If you missed it you can listen online from our website: www.lifecc.us.

LATENESS for CHURCH - I know people arrive to church services late everywhere.  I think it tends to get worse in the summer.  When our service began at 10:30 yesterday, we had about 30% of our crowd.  Then by 10:35 about 60%.  Then by 10:40 about 80%.  then by 10:45, 100%.  It’s just something to deal with…those coming late miss out on some great worship songs and some awesome video.  I really don’t get it…but I have a strong feeling everyone was on time for work today :-)

ALL-STARS – It was a HOT one!  We spent a lot of time outside in the sun at the all-star tournaments…and I don’t remember sweating this much in awhile.  Zac’s first game of the tournament was a great success…a resounding 18-5 victory over South County LL.  We play Fort Hunt LL on Wednesday evening at 7 pm.

BABY MARKLE - Our baby is now just one month away…delivery is schedule for Aug 1…4 weeks from this Friday.  Sherri and Baby Nic are both healthy…although I will say life is getting more and more uncomfortable for my wife.

PRAY FOR RICH & JOSH – Rich Feehs and his son Josh are in the air right now on their way to the Dominican Republic for a Missions trip with their FCA baseball team.  It’s a 10 day trip…I will post links in the future to any updates on their trip.  Please keep them in prayer.

That time of the year…

I’m coaching again…my son’s 13-14 year old Junior all-star team kicks off their tournament games this Saturday at 1pm at West Potomac High School against South County Little League.  After finishing 2nd last year, we are really hoping to bring home a district banner this year.

Sunday Recap

23 06 2008

We had a good day yesterday at LCC.  It was definitely a different feel, but all went well.

  • We kicked off the Bookmarks series.  We had a good start yesterday as we looked at Facebook and the qualities of a true friend.  If you missed it, you can listen online.  This coming week we take a look at YouTube.
  • Our transition to the cafeteria was pretty smooth.  The A/C was working but was acting odd while I was speaking.  It kicked on every 5 minutes…sounding like an airplane taking off…then it would be on for about 30 seconds…then it would kick off.  Lots of fun…I had to fight the natural temptation to start trying to yell over it.  Overall, things went pretty well.  Peaking into the auditorium windows, you can see the old seats already being ripped out…can’t wait for September!
  • Josh and his family were out this week…vacationing in the Outer Banks.  We definitely missed them, but we appreciate Jon Chevalley filling in as a guest worship leader.  Jon did a great job for us.
  • The size of the crowd was a little low, but still decent.  The Einwechters weren’t the only ones who took off for vacation…but hey that’s the summer!
  • Enjoyed the afternoon and evening with the family…watched a few episodes of LOST, played a game of Apples to Apples, had Subway, ice cream, coffee, just basically chilled out for the day.
  • It was also nice to have a break from the rigors of the daily all-star practices with Zac.  The tournament starts this Saturday.

Changes for Sunday…

19 06 2008

Because of the construction on the school auditorium, there are some immediate changes you need to be aware of:

  • NO CORE CLASSES beginning this Sunday, June 22nd. We cannot access all the rooms we need so we are shutting down our 9:30 classes until September.
  • 10:30 WORSHIP SERVICE in CAFETERIA beginning this Sunday. The auditorium is already torn apart. We’re definitely in the cafeteria this week.
  • PRESCHOOL & NURSERY will definitely be available during the service as always. Follow the signs for locations which will be in close proximity to the cafeteria.

Thanks for your patience and service. If you are a regular at LCC, please help newcomers find their way.

This Sunday, we kick off a brand new series… Bookmarks. Click here to read about it.

Invite a friend…see you Sunday.

A Great Weekend

16 06 2008

My weekend recap…

Friday night - My daughter’s team ended their softball season with a great 6-4 victory and a great team party afterwards at Milwaukee Frozen Custard.

Saturday - The LCC Student Ministry had a kickin’ End of School Bash at the Downings home.  35 teens and 7 adults attended the pool party.  It rained for about 3 of the 4 hours…but it didn’t matter.  We had a blast anyway.  Some great group games and the wiffle ball games in the pouring rain were too much fun.  The best part for me (the true reason I was there) was being able to baptize one of our teens – Angelo Tibbs.  We’ll be posting a video of the baptism on YouTube later this week.

Sunday – An awesome Father’s Day.

  • Great service at LCC.  The band was great…nice to have added another guitar to the mix.  The A/C was working :-)   Good Father’s Day crowd!
  • Great to have my parents and grandparents down from PA for the day.  God blessed me with a great dad who was an amazing example for me of godly, loving father.  We had a great afternoon together.
  • Also…my son’s 15th birthday hit on Father’s Day this year as well…I can’t believe I have a kid that old!  Happy B-day Zac!  Congrats on making the DTQ Juniors All-stars!
  • We got to watch Tiger Woods’ amazing finish.  I only watch golf when Tiger is in it…and what can I say…he is unbelievable!

Desktop Computer Needed

12 06 2008

For our church office space, we are looking for a decent desktop computer.  We had a computer workstation in our open workspace area and we’d like to have a computer there for part-timers, lay leaders, or guests to be able to go online if needed and print to our network printer.  We need a computer that is at least running Windows XP.  We already have a flat panel monitor for it.  It’s not an urgent need nor something we want to spend money on, but I figure somebody probably has a computer sitting around that could fill this need. If so…let me know…thanks!

Join us on Father’s Day

12 06 2008

Join us for Father’s Day!

Worship with us this Sunday, June 15th as we celebrate Father’s Day. My message is entitled “Dad in Real Life.” We have a great line-up of music and videos…don’t miss it!

This Sunday is also the day we move our worship services into the school cafeteria for the summer. WHY? The school is renovating the auditorium over the summer months. When we move back in September we’ll have carpeting and cushy seats…it will be sweet! In the meantime we can enjoy the close fellowship of the cafeteria and you can enjoy your coffee and snacks in the service with you!

Next Sunday, June 22nd we start a new 6-week series entitled, Bookmarks. Check it out here.

The New E-Give is now live. Our online giving company has done major upgrades to our elec tronic giving system. I encourage you to check it out. My wife and I have been e-givers since it became available. It helps you to be consistent and of course it helps the church…especially during the upcoming vacation season.

The youth have a big End of School Bash & Pool Party this Saturday. Check it out here. All upcoming 7th graders are invited to attend as their first official youth group activity. Register ASAP.

Invite a friend…see you Sunday.
