Waiting for the big snow of ’09 to start.  The kids are psyched about the probability of at least 1 day off school.   I got to admit the kid in me is excited as well.  Bring it on!

So this morning I woke up wondering what kind of day we’d have at church because of the weather.  Even though the real storm isn’t here yet, I feared the light snow falling could discourage people from coming.  Well, I was blown away.  Obviously the people of LCC don’t want to miss church…

  • Over 200 in attendance for a 2nd straight week…and yet I saw a bunch of regular families missing.  We are a few weeks away from a serious chair and space crisis.  Gotta love this!
  • Donald, our student pastor, shared the results of the 30-hour famine.  About 25 of our teens went 30-hours without food…from 12:30 pm on Friday til 6:30 pm on Saturday.  They raised over $3,500 to feed starving children overseas.  That is enough to feed 9 kids for an entire year!  I’m so proud of them.  Awesome!  Thanks to Donald & Kristie for opening their home to the youth  for 24 straight hours…you are brave and self-sacrificing…thanks!
  • Our women’s ministry retreat is this coming weekend.  The Bling Thing is going to be a great retreat…more than 30 women are registered and they are going to have an awesome time.  Great speakers, activities and music is lined up.  I’m excited about what God is going to do there.  Please pray for the ladies this week.
  • Our men’s ministry is growing.  Our Tuesday night Bible study has been growing during the Deadly Viper study.  The men are about to start a new study – Wild At Heart.  Mike Mullen has just taken over as our men’s director and he’s going to do a tremendous job.  Our men’s basketball team won yesterday52-46 to improve to 3-2 on the season.  Men’s softball is right around the corner.  Great to see new guys connecting and building relationships.
  • Our new website is amazing…Josh has really stepped it up and built us a great looking site.  Check it out: www.lifecc.us
  • The new series – THIRSTY – got off to a great start today.  I had a blast making Markle Mochas during the message.   Great interaction and energy in our service.  Music was great as well…great job band!

Ok…the snow watching begins…how many inches will we get?
